ERG: Early Development Stage

ERG: Early Development Stage

Now that your ERG has determined its purpose, identified its people, and evaluated its potential, it’s time to give your ERG some roots.

At this stage, it can be extremely overwhelming, especially if other ERGs are in their Mid to Mature stage. This is where you need to set annual goals and priorities to help keep yourself aligned. Whenever you feel like you’re not doing enough, just remind yourself that you can’t boil the ocean! Slow and steady wins the race.

Not establishing a strong foundation can lead to a lack of buy-in from your audience. At this stage, you want to start developing some programming. It’s okay if it’s not consistent or if it doesn’t have any connection to organizational goals. Keeping your audience engaged and building community is the name of the game. If you put on one event, that’s one more than you did before! Kudos! Pat yourselves on the back! Ya did it!
